In earlier posts, we have discussed the two pillars in your journey towards success, namely motivation and habit formation. These two pillars are meant to support the major driving force in your life, and that is taking action.
In my opinion, the drive to take action is formed by motivation and habits. When I was suffering from depression, the first step I took was to watch motivational videos continuously. Then I developed a habit of watching motivational videos and researching about self-help courses that can help me overcome the pain of losing my girlfriend.
Combining these two together, I was primarily taking regular action for the betterment of my life. It was a process that I followed, and it has led me to where I am today.
But I understand that not everyone is in my position, and they constantly look for reasons to avoid taking action. Taking action is hands down the single most important tool for achieving success in life.
If you want to make money, you have to take a decision on finding multiple sources of your income. If you want to lose weight you have to take action on leading a healthy lifestyle. If you want to meet the love of your life, you have to go out and meet people and also learn ways on how you can attract people you want in your life.
There are tons of ways you can find on the internet that help you or motivate you to take action. But I have come up with a three-part process that makes me take action every single day: –
- Drawing the life, I want to Live
One of the cornerstones of my mantra is drawing the life you want to lead. Today a lot of stress is laid on finding your passion. But with kind of multi-dimensional lives that we are living it ‘s hard to pinpoint to a single driving passion. Alternatively, you can draw the kind of life you want to live. This will include your physical health, the house in which you are living or the people you have in your life. Don’t take this literally and if you are not a good drawer it doesn’t really matter. You are essentially forming an image in your mind about your future.
- Working towards it
No, once a rough image is formed in your head, you now have to segregate the individual aspects and work towards them. For example, if in your drawing you want yourself to be more successful regarding money, you need to focus on your income sources. Furthermore, if you picture yourself healthier, you also need to take action towards weight loss. When an image is created in our mind, you start working towards it, as you have a direction.
- Mixture of Motivation and Habit
To make sure you don’t falter, you have to feed yourself continuously with motivation. You have to keep thinking about your future image until it becomes a part of your reality. The image will always motivate you to achieve that and by taking the action you will be forming a habit, that will then help you through the process.
Now in above three points, I have given a rough idea and in the future posts, I will be discussing more them. But one thing you need to understand is that you need to move constantly towards achieving your targets, and that can only be done by taking regular action.
